As one might have figured there are several parallel universes where the Cybertronian race still thrives in several interesting ways, in one such universe the Cybertronians of old have taken to becoming one with organic life becoming Fuzors. One such Fuzor was the villainous Megatron, a threat so dire that the Optimus Prime of this universe had to become an Fuzor himself, combining with the soul of an ancient warrior named Kakarot and becoming the Cybertronian Saiyan hybrid Optimus Primal......

At first this upgrade proved to be immeasurably beneficial, however in his final battle against his arch nemesis a seemingly insignificant flaw in Optimus Primal's design became a most dire weakness. The love for combat, the desire to fight the most powerful opponents and overcome any challenge to the fullest, a Saiyan trait that not even Optimus could truly suppress. In fact he didn't simply want to beat Megatron, he wanted to relish the fight and make sure it was a final battle worthy of the Saiyan blood coursing through his engines. Primal may have been able to defeat Megatron once and for all but because of that Saiyan trait the battle costed him dearly....

.....it cost him his beloved Princess Celestia. This alicorn princess had been with Optimus for eons, having taken her in when she lost her own homeworld. She was his family, his most cherished friend in this or any universe. But because he was foolish to let his saiyan pride drive him he unwittingly gave Megatron the opening he needed to destroy Optimus through the very death of Celestia. In his grief, Optimus vowed to purge himself of the Saiyan spirit he fused with, a feat he has yet to fully accomplish but so far has been able to convert his body back to that of a pure Cybertronian, becoming the cold and maniacal Optimal Optimus who sought to conquer the universe in the pursuit of freedom......freedom from the primordial animal instinct that caused the death of his princess, his family.

He has actually gained the support of several Autobots who have lost many loved ones to the very mortality of organic flesh, in fact he has already been successful in turning half of the entire Decepticon race to his side, Decepticons who either tired of this old war or figured with Megatron dead they should join the winning team. Thus a new faction is formed, the Ultimacons. But be they Autobot or Decepticons, those who help carry out Optimal Optimus' plan remain unaware of his true motive....to not only roboticize all sentient life in the universe but to then purge all primordial instinct, all emotion, all want, such feral animalist traits that even his own mechanical race is infected with. In the end he seeks to render all life in his universe as pure technological perfection free of the shackles of sentient nature....free of the animal side.....

Yeah this is another redesign of my "Kakarot Convoy" nonsense, this time ditching the whole awkward Apex Armor concept in favor of just having two separate versions of the same character, sort of a Jekyll & Hyde thing where if Optimal Optimus' emotions go out of control he reverts to his Optimus Primal form.
